Artist Talk with Michael Riedel

15.12.2010

A concept artist and graduate of the State Academy of Fine Arts Staedelschule, Michael Riedel is taking part in the “New Frankfurt Internationals” performance series. Together with Dennis Loesch he founded the now legendary exhibition space “Oskar-von-Miller Strasse 16” at the very same address in Frankfurt, also the first site of the “Freitagsküche”. The building was torn down in 2006. After temporarily moving the venue to Berlin, Riedel has returned to Frankfurt, where “Oskar-von-Miller Strasse 16” has now reopened at Mainzer Strasse 105.

Michael Riedel’s work is concerned with appropriating preexisting things or events and placing them in a new context. During his artist talk Riedel has presented various projects and discussed his work with Nikolaus Hirsch, Rector of the State Academy of Fine Arts Staedelschule, and curator Jonas Leihener.

Michael Riedel (born 1972) studied at the State Academy of Fine Arts Staedelschule, Frankfurt a. M. He lives and works in Frankfurt a. M. and New York.
